The Story

What the book is about

The World Needs Your Colors is a picture book about a character named Chroma, whose colors have gone quiet after taking in too much unkindness from the world. One day, Nibby, a small curious Rainbow Puff, notices something feels off. She goes looking for Chroma, and through kindness, curiosity, and the simple gift of showing up, she reminds Chroma that her colors were never really gone. They were just waiting for someone to see them again. It's a story about self-expression, emotional safety, and the quiet power of a friend who reminds you who you are.

Why I wrote this book

I wrote this book because I know what it feels like to dim yourself. To hear something cruel and let it stick. To slowly turn the volume down on the parts of you that used to shine the loudest. I also know what it feels like to be reminded, sometimes by a friend, sometimes by a stranger, that those parts are still there. That they've always been there. That the world is genuinely better when you let them out.

Chroma is that experience of being dimmed. Nibby is the friend who reminds you it doesn't have to stay that way. And this book is my way of passing that reminder forward, especially to the kids and queer folks who need it most, but also to any adult who's been carrying it quietly.
